Repentance

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20

DEVOTION

Last week, the Christian world celebrated the life of Billy Graham whom, many would argue was the greatest Christian evangelist of all time.  It is estimated he preached to more than 250 million people during his lifetime and was the conduit to countless lives being saved in the name of Christ Jesus. In all of his time sharing the Gospel, he never shied away from the importance of repentance being the first step in coming into a right relationship with God. He had a true gift for speaking truth in love that changed the hearts of millions.

There are many men and women who come through our doors who have a warped view of God. They cannot grasp that a holy God could love someone like them. Most have been condemned for their choices and many have been taught God also condemns them. They have lived in fear of what God would do to them because of their past and feel completely unworthy to turn to the Lord in repentance.

As we go throughout this month, let us pray that hearts encounter the one true God who loves them, will never stop loving them, and casts their sins as far as the east is from the west.

PRAYER

Lord, we pray for men and women at The Foundry to fully understand the weight of Galatians 2:20. We pray they turn in repentance not out of fear, but out of love for you and the new life that awaits them. Father, may you draw them closer to your Son, bind the spirit that blinds their minds, and release the spirit of wisdom and revelation on them that they may know you better. Amen.
