A Triple-Braided Cord

A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NLT)

DEVOTION

Most animals on land or at sea have some sort of predator, whether we’re talking about wolves, lions or sharks. The young and old animals are typically more vulnerable than healthy adults. The elderly animals don’t have the stamina to outrun their attacker, and the young haven’t developed the strength to fight off predators. Some animals defend their young by forming protective circles around them when danger threatens.

Humans were made to fellowship with others. For help, for strength, for comfort. When we stand alone, or isolate, we are vulnerable to the attacks of the evil one. We depend on each other to circle around us to help protect us when we become exposed.

For the addict, because of our past rejections, we often find ourselves susceptible and defenseless due to our isolation. The Foundry is committed to helping those we serve protect themselves from isolation by building community around them made up of the Body of Christ. As you pray for our men and women, know that what you are doing is providing a protective circle around them as they continue their significant journey toward healing and recovery.

PRAYER

Thank you, Father, for creating our need for fellowship since the very beginning of time. I pray this month would overflow with an abundance of God-ordained moments of fellowship for the men and women at The Foundry. I pray they would each find themselves surrounded by a body of believers who walk side by side with them as they continue their journey. In Jesus name, Amen.
