A New Life of Promise and Hope

Cathie started using drugs at a party. “Everybody was doing it,” she says. In her early 20s at the time, she had no idea how addiction would come to rule her life.

She built relationships with men who shared her habit, but they didn’t last. She stopped using when she had her two children, but her addiction soon regained control. “From the time I woke up to the time I went to sleep, I was using,” she says. Yet somehow she managed to get a college degree, hold down a job and maintain a home for her young son and daughter.

In 2015, she was arrested on drug-related charges, and when she was released from jail, she came straight to The Foundry. “I was tired of living the way I was living,” she explains. “I was ready for a new life.” She chose our women’s Recovery Program because it is faith-based. “It’s the best decision I ever made,” she says today. “Now I have hope.”

Through your prayers and support, we’re helping Cathie build the relationship with the Lord she felt was missing in her life, as she embraces our Christ-centered classes, employment-readiness training and spiritual guidance. “I’m digging into everything – going after it with my whole heart. Using is not a part of my life anymore,” she says.

Cathie looks forward to being reunited with her children who are being cared for by her mother. “I just want to be the best mom and daughter and friend I can be,” she says. And she leaves her future in the hands of the Lord. “I’m thankful God plucked me out of the mess I was in, and I have faith He will lead me where I need to go.”
