Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

DEVOTION:

There was a point in my life where the weight of what was supposed to happen, but didn’t, was slowly crushing me. Day after day I found myself digging farther into a place where I wasn’t sure if I believed God was going to do what He promised. Simply put, I was lacking faith. I kept waiting to snap out of it and get back to what I knew was true, but I just couldn’t seem to get over this hurdle.

But, one crisp fall morning, God met me in my longing and reminded me of the Father of our Faith, Abraham. God made big promises to Abraham throughout his life. When those promises didn’t come through immediately, Abraham didn’t give up. Instead, Romans 4:20-21 says he “was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God because he was fully convinced that what God had promised, he was able to do.”

Faith is a deep chasm between the mountains we’ve seen God move in the past and the anticipation of what He will do in the future. I’m still waiting on some of those promises to be fulfilled and the men and women at The Foundry are too. They’ve seen promises fulfilled and miracles happen since giving their lives to Jesus, but there’s still more to come.

PRAYER:

Abba, I lift up every man and women waiting today; waiting on your promises to be fulfilled. I pray they would look to Abraham as their guide to have faith. Let them be strengthened in their waiting, giving glory to you, and becoming fully convinced that you are who you say you are and you’re able to do what you say you will do. May every piece of their lives be a reflection of Christ’s love. Amen.
