Boxes of Hope: A Thanksgiving Dinner for those in Need

Boxes of Hope: A Thanksgiving Dinner for those in Need

If you are traveling through downtown Bessemer on a Wednesday afternoon, you are likely to see a brightly colored food truck making its way through town. Its destination is Jess Lanier Manor, which houses 120 elderly, disabled, and low-income neighbors. These neighbors anxiously await our truck to arrive because, for many of them, The Foundry is their main source of fresh produce and basic pantry staples.

This Thanksgiving, the neighbors of this community will be receiving a special holiday blessing generously provided by supporters of The Foundry. For $2.50, supporters can sponsor one Thanksgiving meal for a neighbor in need. This sponsorship will provide a meal complete with chicken and dressing, gravy, green beans, sweet potato casserole, roll, and dessert. Each meal will be freshly-prepared by The Foundry Food Services and delivered hot to each neighbor by wonderful volunteers.

The Foundry is honored to be given the opportunity to share the love and kindness of Christ to the neighbors of Jess Lanier. The Resident Advisor of the Bessemer Housing Authority told us what she believes Boxes of Hope will mean to her residents:“It will mean a lot to the residents here. I feel that it will show them that others care about them, as well. They are familiar with me and our staff showing kindness, love, and support, but to see a warm smile and receive kindness from a stranger reminds them that God still sees them and He’s still providing for them.”

We invite you to join us in this wonderful opportunity. Visit https://foundryministr.wpengine.com/engage/volunteer/season-of-giving/ to learn how you can make an impact today!
